HABITAT: Primarily found in warehouses, food handling establishments and homes.

AUSTRALIAN SPIDER BEETLE (PTINUS TECTUS)

Medium reddish brown in colour with a spider like appearance the Australian Spider Beetle is around 3 to 4mm in length, oval body and head are clearly separate with obvious long nobbly antenae.

BIOLOGY:

These insects feed on anything of plant or animal origin and are commonly associated with old birds nests. The adults cannot fly and are usually found at night foraging. The abdomen is mostly covered in golden hairs.
