HABITAT: Found in homes and offices, living in carpets and infesting woollen products and any materials of animal origin.

FUR BEETLE (ATTAGENUS PELIO)

This small oval shaped insect has two distinctive white marks on the wing cases behind the head. Approximately 3.6 to 5.7mm in length.

BIOLOGY:

The fur beetle larvae are characterised by the golden tufts of hair from the abdomen. The eggs hatch between 6 to 22 days depending on the temperature. The adults can survive from 6 months to 3 years. They often infest woollen carpets, skins, furs and have also been known to feed on high protein content products such as museum specimens of insects, bones, fish, meat etc.
