HABITAT: Warm areas ie. Kitchens, boiler rooms, production areas, pipe ductings, plant rooms etc.

GERMAN COCKROACH (BLATTELLA GERMANICA)
Light brown in colour 10-15mm. Preferred temperature will be approximately 30 degrees - also know as "the steam fly". They live in areas known as a harbourage. Which is always near to a food supply ie. Inside cooking equipment, prep tables or cavities in food prep areas. Excellent climbers.
BIOLOGY:
A female lays 4 - 8 egg cases (ootheca) during her adult life span. She carries the egg case until the Nymphs are ready to hatch. Each egg case contains 35-40 Nymphs. The Nymphal stage lasts for approximately 40 days. The life span of a german cockroach is 130 days for a male and 150 days for a females. |
