Rats – The very
thought of rats
sends a shiver
through most people
and with the mild
winters and extended
warm weather which
the UK has
experienced in the
last 4 years,
populations are at
record levels. Rats
are prolific
breeders with a
single pair
producing a family
of up to 2000 off
spring in a year. We
all need to be on
our guard and remove
any conditions,
which rats will
thrive in. A rat can
get through a hole
5/8th of
an inch and
therefore potential
entry points should
be sealed. Any food
sources in stores
need removing
overnight or to be
placed in a suitable
protective
containers, with
spillages removed at
the earliest
opportunity. Rats
carry diseases and
live in filthy
environments, if
they enter your
clean premises it
will soon become
contaminated.
