HABITAT: Moist and dark areas ie. Kitchens, plant rooms, production areas, cellars, areas around water pipes, drains etc.

ORIENTAL COCKROACH (BLATTA ORIENTALIS)

Dark brown, almost black 20 - 25mm. The harbourage area is found in damp, dark environments.

BIOLOGY:

Life span - up to 250 days depending on temperature of habitat. A female will produce 5-10 ootheca with approximately 20 eggs per ootheca. The egg cases can lie dormant up to 18 months. The Nymphal stage is between 200-300 days depending on temperature. The egg case is deposited prior to hatching in a moist dark area. The oriental cockroach is known as the "Common Cockroach".
